The Emissions Trading System and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism after the EU elections
13 June 2024 | WEBINAR
Following the European Parliament elections, there will be a need to strengthen EU climate policy, including the 2040 targets.
At this event, the sixth edition of a series of meetings, we shone a light on two important new policy instruments to decarbonise our economy and society. With our speakers and a wide group of stakeholders, we discussed the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and the justness of the EU Emissions Trading System for road transport and buildings.
The first panel discussion focused on what CBAM means for the decarbonisation of Europe’s heavy industry and climate action outside the EU.
The second panel discussed on how we can ensure the fair implementation of carbon pricing in buildings and road transport. We considered how the EU election will impact ETS2 and how we can build up public support for carbon pricing.
